LEGO of My #Bionicle! @Netflix_CA #StreamTeam

Thing 1 started building Lego sets using the picture instructions or "map" as he called them long before he could read.

I swear it seems like I gave birth to Thing 1 with a piece of LEGO in his hand. Fifteen years ago, LEGO released a line called "Bionicle" and for the next decade it became part of Thing 1's and therefore my daily life and focus.

Over a 10 year period we would accumulate a VERY large collection of Bionicle LEGO sets, books, 4 movies, Nintendo DS games, Nintendo Gamecube games, posters...

Doesn't every parent spend hours making shields and swords to complete their kid's LEGO Knight costume? Hmm ... Thing 1 insisted they all do.

Well it had been many years since I watched my son build a Bionicle until this arrived ...

My normally generous and loving son flat out refused to let his younger cousins have this. In fact he has been asking for it, well more like threatening to steal it and run for days now. Today I finally gave in and let him have it.

Exciting News! You can now stream a new Netflix Original series called Bionicle: The Journey to One (season 1). The series which is a retelling of the original Bionicle story, follows LEGO's re-release of it's Bionicle line. Our resident Bionicle Expert gives the Bionicle series 2 thumbs up.

But that's not all! For all you LEGO fans Netflix has a great collection of other LEGO movies and series including another Netflix Original series LEGO Friends: The Power of Friendship (season 1).

Be sure to check out these other LEGO titles currently available to stream on Netflix:
  • LEGO: Batman the Movie
  • LEGO: DC Comics Super Heroes - MISSION BLUE
  • LEGO: Marvel - Maximum Overload
  • LEGO: The Adventures of Clutch Powers
  • LEGO: Lego City
  • LEGO: Elves
  • LEGO: Ninjago - Masters of Spinjitzu (3 seasons)
  • LEGO: Ninjago - King of the Shadows
  • LEGO: Legends of Chima (2 seasons)

Destiny's Child: Inspiring your child to create their own destiny. @Netflix_CA #StreamTeam #NowOnNetflixCA

Definition via The Free Dictionary

Do you believe your destiny is predetermined and inevitable? I believe we all have the power to write our own destiny and decide the course our life will take.

Once upon a time there was...
"a boarding school for teens destined to follow in their famous parents fairytale footsteps"
... or are they?

Another new Netflix Original: Ever After High: Spring Unsprung.

Looking for more inspiration for your kids on creating their own destiny?
Check out these two Netflix's Original series.
Mako Mermaids Session 2 (2/13) and Richie Rich (2/20)

Do you have a budding chef, scientist or entrepreneur?
It's important our kids see all the possibilities and dream BIG!

For the Little Ones:

For the Big Kids:

Once you and the kids have watched these inspiring series why not create a visual representation of their goals and dreams with an inspiration board. You can use anything you want: pictures, fabric, paint chips, stickers, quotes, or trinkets.
Or maybe make a Reach for the Stars Banner like the one below.

Image and instructions via Netflix and Meet the Dubiens

You and your kids could even create inspiration boards or reach for the stars boards on Pinterest to share with friends and family.
No matter which you choose to do, be sure to encourage your kids to let their dreams and imagination run wild as they start to create their own life destiny.

Our favourite ocelot in NEW! @NETFLIX_CA ORIGINAL #TheAdventuresOfPussInBoots #Streamteam

I love when a favourite childhood character or story is reinvented so generations to follow can enjoy connecting that story or character with memories as well. I purchased and put aside books to share with my kids before they were even born, and many a nursery has been decorated in the theme of a loved childhood book character. Introducing our kids to our favourite characters is one of the first ways we bond with our kids.

Even better is when some of those same characters come to life in a way the whole family can enjoy.

The new NETFLIX ORIGINAL Series: The Adventures of Puss and Boots does exactly that. As of January 16th, 2015 our favourite boot wearing, swashbuckling ocelot, Puss in Boots is back with new adventures and fun for kids of all ages.

Want to meet some of Puss in Boots' buddies? Then be sure to check out Shrek Forever After.

Why not make this Friday a Family Movie Night and connect with more of the characters and stories that have been brought to life for those nostalgic and those meeting them for the first time.

With so many great series and movies to pick from you are sure to find some of your old favourites and maybe some new ones too!

I love this Puss in Boots craft. Perfect for a cold January day when it is too cold to go outside.

And after all that watching and crafting you'll probably need a snack. So why not stay in theme with a Puss in Boots Snack
