FOOD FOR THOUGHT FRIDAY FEATURE: WORTH THE READ MAR 14, 2014

I read interesting informative posts and articles about business, social media, marketing, networking, and the like all the time. I'm a bit of a junkie when it comes to this type of thing. So I thought I would share at least one said post or article every Friday, and maybe send you into your weekend with some food for thought. I found both of these were interesting, thought provoking, worth the read, and maybe worthy of some further conversation.

Yep, just me Cathy thinking out loud about Friday Feature: Worth the Read.

  1. W.r.t the janitor article, I love it. Throughout my career as a Project Manager, I truly believed that other people made me look good. From the people in the mailroom right up to upper management. If they succeeded, I succeeded. It was a great recipe for success and shaping myself and my kids into kind and supportive people. Well, that's my goal

    1. I couldn't agree more Sarah and since those people do make you look good and succeed, it only makes sense to treat them with respect and model the behaviour you want your kids and those around you to learn. Plus...you never know who people are, the janitor's son or daughter might be the CEO someday. Take a look at the Dragons on Dragon's Den Hmmm.... Karma

  2. Well the thing about having an introvert for a CEO like I have is he truly does treat everyone the same. When I first started working form him I didn't quite get what was going on. Was it just me he didn't talk to? I soon realized, no he just doesn't talk. Well he will if you start the conversation :)

    1. LOL Shayna you should try have two of them married to each other. My Hubby is never mistaken for an extrovert. We argue over who to sacrifice to the party gods. I usually lose.

  3. I have a terrible time making small talk and I'd just prefer to stay home and read/pet cats all day, people be damned. But sometimes it's necessary (like at an upcoming baptism where I'll really only know the baby's parents and grandparents). Maybe I'll try a couple of the easier tips from the first article you mentioned (or maybe YOU have some tips because you're so great at connecting with people!). Thanks, Cathy!

    1. LOL the cake isn't real. I am the introvert that looks like an extrovert so struggle with this all the time. I mentally prepare before hand and promise myself to introduce myself to x number of people. Each time I increase the promise or what I will do outside of my comfort zone.
