Streaming #Fashion in #Style #WhatToWatch #W2WW @Netflix_CA

What to Watch Wednesday

Streaming Fashion in Style

After lunch with my friend Dawn from Duelling Designs, a fellow Netflix enthusiasts, and our rather long discussion about fashion and design I decided this week's #W2WW theme would be fashion, style and fashion design. I found a number of fashion-themed movies, shows and documentaries currently available to stream on Netflix Canada. I stopped myself at these 14 but there are loads of movies and shows starring incredible style icons and inspirational style-makers and trend-setters for you to enjoy.
Comedy Gold!
Style Makers and Breakers:
Fashion-Themed Documentaries:
  • The Director: An Evolution in Three Acts (about Gucci's Creative Director - Frida Giannini. I loved this because Gucci has long been one of my favourite fashion brands.
  • Dior and I (This shows the intensity behind designing a collection and preparing for a show.)
  • Saint Laurent (about Yves St. Laurent)
  • Jeremy Scott - The People's Designer (Creative Director for Moschino and Jeremy Scott)
  • IRIS (Fashion Icon)
  • Advanced Style: New York Seniors (still stylin' as seniors)
  • The True Costs (A look at the less glamorous side of high fashion)
Fashion-Themed Series:
  • Atelier (sub-titles - in Japanese)
  • Velvet (sub-titles - in Spanish)
So go on! Share with me.
What's your style? and Who are your favourite fashion icons?

Yep, just me Cathy thinking out loud about style, fashion and beauty.

What To Watch Wednesday #W2WW

 Celebrating Women!

It's Wednesday and time to tackle that ever popular question: What's good to watch? I'm recommending 4 must-watch Documentaries about Women this week, that are currently available to stream on Netflix Canada. So why not sit down and watch these with your daughters AND sons, then start a conversation. This is important stuff!

12 Movies for #DadTime on #FathersDay @Netflix_CA #What2Watch

Father's Day:

One day a year we show our appreciation to our fathers for all they do. So Dad for making you want to scream 364 days a year, below are 12 movies for you to stream on your 1 special day a year!

Becoming a parent changes everything. This immediate tenured position is yours whether you're ready for it, accept it or embrace it. There is no manual, you simply have to learn as you go along and fake it till you make it. I've seen how being a dad often makes my husband laugh, occasionally cry, regularly shake his head in total bewilderment, but rarely do I hear him say it's boring. As one can clearly see in the movies below the father-child relationship doesn't really get easier, it just evolves and ... it's complicated. These movies are all currently available to stream on Netflix.

Becoming a Dad - Once upon a time:

The Father-Child Relationship - The story continues:

Happy Father's Day to the dads out there and

Series #Spotless on @Netflix_CA Is Definitely #What2Watch #WhatToWatch #W2WW

What to Watch?

I say ... watch Spotless.
It's Wednesday and time to answer the ever popular question: What is good to watch? Well it's actually Friday, but better late than never. (Usually) I share movie and show recommendations on Cathy Thinking Out Loud every Wednesday (aka #W2WW). This week's recommendation is a British series that was recently added Netflix Canada called Spotless. Please note the rating for this series is TV-MA.

Spotless Trailer in English - Link

Interview: Spotless Brendan Coyle

(2015 , 1 session - 10 episodes,  TV-MA)

Spotless is part crime drama, part thriller, and part comedy. When the main character, Jean, gets a visit from his brother Martin, the consequences to a series of bad choices follow him to Jean's door step as well. Now Martin's problems are starting to become Jean's. Unfortunately you can't pick your family, or the string of bad luck, and a comedy of errors that comes with them. Personally I think it is one of the best dramas I have seen in a while and I definitely give it 2 thumbs up!

Take a minute and let me know what you thought of this week's recommendation, or what you're streaming these days. Enquiring minds want to know!

Yep, just me Cathy thinking out loud about what to watch.

Mother-Child Relationship: It's Complicated #What2Watch #W2WW #MothersDay Edition

What to Watch:

Mother's Day Edition

It's Time for What to Watch Wednesday (aka #W2WW) where I answer the oh so important question ... What's good to watch? With Mother's Day around the corner it I thought this week's recommendations should be about mothers, motherhood and the complicated relationship between mother and child. You can stream all of the movies below on Netflix Canada.

Pregnancy and preparing to parent, whether planned or not ... life's complicated.

Parenting styles and the mother child relationship ... life only gets more complicated.

The movies below illustrate just how varied and complicated it can get.

Motherhood is rewarding and wonderful at times, heartbreaking and challenging at others, but always life changing

Motherhood has taught me this:
We are all perfect parents until we have children.
All our parenting fails will happen in full view of perfect parents. It's a Murphy's Law type thing.
Cherish every moment of it, because in the blink of an eye you go from baby to young adult.

Happy Streaming!

Yep, just me Mama Cathy thinking out loud about what to watch.

This Week's #What2Watch Recommendation: #SPY #movie #W2WW @Netflix_CA

What to Watch

No need to keep this one top secret or undercover!

As you know "What's Good to Watch?" is a common question amongst my friends and family, and the reason I share movie and show recommendations on Cathy Thinking Out Loud every Wednesday (aka #W2WW). This week's recommendation is a comedy with one of my favourite actors Melissa McCarthy called Spy. This movie currently streaming on Netflix Canada has an R rating so it's not for the kiddies

Spy is filled with the typical slapstick comedy we have come to love and expect from Melissa McCarthy as she fumbles her way into and out of impossible situations.

I Like It Better When We Netflix Together ...Sometimes #Streamteam @Netflix_CA

I Like It Better When We Netflix Together ... Sometimes.

The secret to a lasting relationship is the ability to be together and still maintain your own identity within the relationship. Same goes for the shows we watch, some are perfect for watching together, and others are best watched separately. There is that sweet spot in the middle of the He Says watch this, and She Says watch this, that is the We Say watch this.

My husband and I have been together a long time, and back in the day long before streaming we learned to share the remote and give and take when it came to what we watched. Not that learning to give and take isn't a good thing, but I like being able to stream the shows we both like together, without the need for me to sit through an episode of Farscape. I'm guessing he's just as happy not to watch a 3 hour Bollywood movie with subtitles. In my opinion Netflix is a relationship saver, and peace keeper. It brings us together, while allowing us to retain our own viewing identities. It really does make me happy that my husband can spend his downtime enjoying a show he really likes, and even happier I don't have to endure it.

It's interesting what our show and movie preferences say and reveal about our personalities. Even more interesting is how those preferences might even predict compatibility. I think you'll enjoy this infographic and the interesting stats it reveals. With Valentine's Day right around the corner why not stream a few romantic movies with your honey, or find a show both of you will love watching together. It could be the beginning of a very special showmance.

Happy Streaming!

Six Sci-Fi Shows to #Stream: #ShadowHunters + 5 #What2Watch #W2WW @Netflix_CA

What to Watch?

Six Sci-Fi Series to Stream

As you all know, "What's Good to Watch?" is a common question amongst my friends and family, and the reason I share movie and show recommendations on Cathy Thinking Out Loud every Wednesday (aka W2WW). This week I'm recommending a new sci-fi Netflix Original, called Shadow Hunters.

The series starts on Clary's 18th Birthday, when she finds out some rather startling truths about herself and her mother. After Clary's mother is kidnapped, she turns to a group of newly friended shadow hunters to help find and rescue her missing mother.

New episodes of Shadow Hunters are being added weekly, but while you're waiting for the next one, why not binge-watch one of these series:
